I have a wire over my desk in the "shop" where I hang my "for example plugs". Some classics , some retired with honor. Hall of Fame on a string..

Shop cleaned up so now I can see the bench Dupe all set up and working well. Was given a Clemens lathe, all set up but needs new motor. Going to go with this new chubby body for Pikie this spring.

Chris, that is a Clemens rod lathe.

Rod lathe!
Sold the same one about 6 years ago and kicked myself in the ass for getting rid of it. Nice to have one again.

A very nice lathe. These are the motor specs on mine;

Manufacturer - Dayton, Niles Ill.
Model # 2M037A
115v 60HZ 1.5AMP
1/10 HP 8000RPM
Spec # 5292

I bought mine from Grainger after burning the first one out

Looks like Grainger no longer carries the 2M037 A model which is CW rotation, I'm going to go with the 2M034 which I used on my last Clemens, only 1/15hp but it worked fine. Can't believe the price on these now!

Do you write on the retired with honor plugs... hard to remember the stories behind each great plug and what they caught...

Anyone ever try to build a CCBC 7600 surf darter? Anyone ever use one? They seem to be real scarce. Was it because they fished well and got used or because they were only made for a very short while? Always wanted to try and build one but never got around to it. I like the shape alot. Don't even know if they were more of a surface lure or if they were really a darter.

From what I hear they didn't swim great, Gary Soldati has been working on his version for a few years and I think he has it about right now. I think there may be a pic. of it on his site.

Maybe we should do a "CC Surf Darter Challenge"

I'm in for it, this is one of the plugs that's on my "give it a try list"

I made the red headed one for a lady friend who uses it for fresh water bass fishing in maine... she has caught LM, SM, and pickeral with it on Highland lake in Bridgton. It is close to a CCBC darter...

yes... through trial and error I finally got one to do what I wanted with a tail weight( wlike the original)... I've got several on my bench in need of final paint... hopefully for plugfest...

The plugs that retire have to earn it. The really big nights fishing don't happen every year, no need to write on them. I like it that way, keeps special, well, special.
