Those are the best looking poppers I have ever seen! Your killin me over here The color and pattern choices are PRIMO! Excellant job on the tails as well. I need all the specifics though. Whats the weight? What are they made out of? How did you get the faces cupped so perfect? What clear finish are you using?

I gotta know ALL the details! Please Please tell me

on average they weighed 1.77 - 1.85 oz. i was looking for 2.18 oz, next time i will add a second 1/4 oz tailweight in the back. they also float a little higher than the recent gibbs (sits almost verticle) i was going by.

I made some last year that were unweighted, and they worked well, both in terms of casting and fish catching. i'm sure i'll do fine with these.

wood is AYC
envirotex finish

to do the mouths i started with a forstner bit, next i do the angle cut on the bandsaw (you can't drill with the forstner after the angle is cut). then i round them out with this oval shaped rasp. i chuck the bit into the drill press and hold the plug (i don't spin it). if you only move the plug in the opposite direction the cutter is spinning it will not 'grab' if you try going clockwise you will have problems. after the rasp i sanded with some 60-80 grit, then 120-180 to finish.
