Anything on the bench?

i try not to build in the spring/fall, but i usually bust out a rod in August. finally finishing up a 1201L for a friend. started it back in june..... if i have time, i'd like to knock out the glass spinner i have been putting off for a few years before the fall kicks in.

anyone else building right now?

Naw, I have several blanks laying on my tablesaw area where my wrapper is set up. I've been too busy getting my daughter's room in order and now my office are is sprawled all over the rest of the house.

At nite I use this ancient lap top that is a mess - can't even open *.PDF files since many of the *.exe got chowed. :P

I'll wait until after deer season is over before I get around to building any more rods.

Got an Allstar 1266/2 I'm building as spinner for the S-B biggest canal fish award for last year...Slipknot. After that I would like to finish an Allstar 1265/2 I am building for myself , almost done and then start an XRA 1084 2 piece , also for me. I haven't been able to build myself one for 2 1/2 years now but I'm hoping. I should at least get my 1265 done. Its almost there , has guides and handle and seat needs just a little work on a crosswrap and then coat it.

I just put the 2nd coat of epoxy on the butt wrap of a GUSA 80Monster Mag this AM. Will add a decal to that as well as an 80 Mega to finish off those 2.

In order, here is what I have planned for the rest of the year:
Purple Gusa Predator for me Tuna fishing
Purple Gusa 79 Mag to wrap for someone to use for Togging
Calstar 800L for Blackfishing (me)
Calstar 800L for a friend to use Toggin'
DNY Impact of my Mom for Fluking for Christmas

MikeCC, cool wrap! i haven't branched out to the really intricate stuff yet. all diamonds, chevrons, and a couple attempts at a 3-D wrap. i have a tough time sitting down for hours to work on a wrap. damn fish ADD.

Exclamation

Just finished up a E-Glass spinning rod to match the Penn Slammer I re wrapped for Fishing Freak... The re-wrap......did I mention I changed it from a white blank to flat black then wrapped to match all of his other tuna gear.

Now I am in the process of putting together a Patriot 1088 built spinning for Bart as well as working on a 1207 for Redneck24. Then out of commission for a while with the forearm surgery scheduled for the 19th. Sure hope it the recovery isnt to long as I have a dozen Rogue blanks in the basement to build for FW bass fishing next year.

Then I need to finish an Allstar 1389/2 also a spinner.

Thumbs up

Finally received my Allstar 1087 blank. Set it up spinning. Just took it off the drier. It came out great. Will get to use it this fall from those rocky spots tossing Sluggos and Yozuris. Simple and clean buttwrap with aquamarine and black. I normally don't wrap in season but waited for this blank since spring. There was a mix up in the blank sent from the supplier. I took the blank home and did my usual mike checks. The numbers wern't even close. It wasn't even in the catolog. They think the blanks were from an O.E.M. stock that was sent instead. Well ,better late than never!Hey, to use my glass rod up to now. Billy D.
P.S. See you at the next C.S.A. meeting.
