Delta Lathe

Anybody use a Delta Midi lathe? Does a $50 rebate and free shipping make this thing worth looking at?

His prices can be beaten if you look around on internet. Try Amazon.com

They are ALL multi speed, just that the "variable" model has a dial selector for essentially infinite speed settings, and the others are manual belt change for diff speed ranges from like 500 to 3970 rpms , No?
$199 is most likely the 6 speed with manual belt change.
I like the JET lathes, they make a solid product
I just got the tool crib catalog#401 in the mail today in fact, its $199, page #45. free shipping AND if you give them the code on inside flap of the catalog they knock off another $25 on orders of over $199. Ya really cant beat that at all. This looks like the time to buy one. I dont understand how they are making $ on this?

Go with the JET. I love mine.
Besides, you should be running it at top speed anyway.
At $199 the JET is a steal.

$199 is a great price for the Jet Midi. Their little pen lathes are usually that price.

I guess there are 2 mini Jets, the 6 speed and variable. You can get the 6 speed from Amazon for $175 w/free shipping, the variable speed is $275 w/ free shipping. Is the only difference the speed control for $100? Woodworker.com has the Delta Midi for $200 shipped, is that basically the same thing as the Jet 6 speed?

I picked up the Jet variable speed before Christmas. A solid lathe. Quiet too. Not sure how it compares with the others mentioned. With the variable speed, you still have belts to switch. Each belt has a range of speeds. These can be dialed in with a knob on the front of the lathe. Got a two foot deep pile of dust under mine right now
