Excellent article. Especially on the origins of our present day historical ignorance and misunderstanding of our founding principles. But our education industry would balk at reverting to classical education. The mantra is "investment in education," meaning the perpetuation of public K-12 and universities that employ students as the reason for that "investment," and the more that can be matriculated through the system into "higher learning," the more investment is required, and the wealthier and more influential the higher learning institutions become. To maintain the quid pro quo, the schools must teach "progressively" rather than classically. The rigors of classical pedagogy would trim the rosters of new students, many of whom would not be intellectually capable. So, the classical idea of primary education being learning how to learn is transformed into playtime and progressively relevant indoctrination, with some basic 3 R's for those who can handle it. But a thorough introduction to the history of Western civilization and American history would retard the progressive understanding of present class struggles and concepts of fairness.
