Obama signs executive order to cut waste across federal agencies

WASHINGTON, Nov. 9 -- U.S. President Barack Obama on Wednesday signed an executive order to cut waste across the federal government, including reducing unnecessary travels and purchase of high-tech devices.

"From the day I took office, I've said we're going to comb the federal budget, line by line, to eliminate as much wasteful spending as possible," Obama said in a White House statement.

"That's why today, I'm signing an executive order that will build on our efforts to cut waste and promote more efficient spending across the government -- we're cutting what we don't need so that we can invest in what we do need," he said.


I guess we're "investing" in what he and Michelle "need"...you think she'd stick around to enjoy her 37 Christmas trees.... "We have 37 Christmas trees here at the White House--37!" Michelle Obama excitedly told a recent group of visitors. "That's a lot, right?
