And this was the 1ST Striper fest in 6 yrs I was sober. Life responsibiltys have taken their toll. I got to catch up and talk with some of the old backside crew i hadn't seen or talked to in years. Made me cry fo days and a way of life gone by. Glad to see em still alive. Could care less about the other BS. Glad Salisbury won the 10k. Third time was a charm for him. He deserved it. Sucked whoever the guy was that won the boat. Just like them there big lotto jack pots where a rich person always wins. I went up to congratulate the guy and you would hve thought he already had a truck full of nickels and you just gave him another one. He could have cared less. Only reason I went was for my chance at that boat and it didn't even phase him that he won.
If I had won it, security would still be chasing me around right now with my pants around my ankles screamin fo the whole world to kiss my arse.
Greg let me take some pics with the pendin world record fish and it is MASSIVE. Honored regardless and Glad I got the opportunity.
OTW was LUCKY it didn't rain or we'd a been up to our A holes in mud with the set up they had. No bathroom lines which was nice.
Whether tournaments and the Stripper Cup are fo you and your moral principles, don't care, I still enjoy it and what it tries to embody in striped bass fishing and our small brother hood of "liars and cheats". They really strived to emphasize their minimization of purely massacring fish for the sake of a tournament. IE nmber killed and weighed (most which were commercial killed/fish sold anyway) And if I had actually won a weekly prize this year I would have felt beaten compared to years past. Weekly shore got you a BOAT rod, a reel, and a fillet knife. Whooped - d- doo.
I will admit i was suprised at the turnout given the location.
I drove home and was happy........Till i got outta the truck and heard the screamin baby........Shoulda had a few of them there beers guys wanted ta buy me......
gotta throw an eel in the crib !!!

small craft ? yup, got it.

I always have a good time at Striper Fest due to the people I go with/meet up with. Thats been the reason and will always be the reason. No stress for me because I don't kill myself all season trying to catch large so I place. Location wasn't bad but I liked the Canal location best so far.

Like Mike said, got a chance to meet & chat with Greg M. Man that fish was big and I didn't realize how big Myerson was too, I'm 6.1.

Whatever happened to golden ticket holders getting the first beer for free? IIRC, that was the deal up at Harpoon.

Bud is still a step up from warm Gansett, though.

thought they did a tremendous job producing it, some people can always find faults to point out but it seemed well attended from all parts of the east coast, band was good, nice location...I was a bit disappointed that Redlight wasn't sporting his baby in one of those snuggy things across his chest and a binky on a lanyard, made a family day of it and hit the Heritage Museum on the way which was fantastic, the longest line that we had to wait in was for the Kiddie Bouncy things, no lines for food or beverages, love to see more tackle vendors...only expected some Sebile's in the weekly 2nd but there was also a gift card for West Marine and a pair of Costa sunglasses, so I considered that a nice score

I attended, and as was previously said, was happy overall minus the parking mess and the asinine location. I can deal with the $5 beer as that is standard pricing for a drink at a sporting event these days anyway, and I didn't go to get hammered. (that was last year as I drank from the cup. ) They advertised the location as "only 1 hour form both Boston and Providence." Too bad it is still an hour+ to get to those places for a lot of us. It was good as always to see many of the guys I haven't seen in some time, and was hopeful for my shot at the boat. I didn't enjoy hearing some of the Team Striper guys bitching and moaning about how they lost though. We'll see if their "threats" not to participate next year hold. Pretty sure we have heard that before from them...

It was a pain to leave the canal and drive to Falmouth, but I think this was the best set up yet. The band sounded great and I like the vendors on the outside with the tables in the middle. I didn't drink or eat so the cost of that stuff want an issue for me.

IMO the whole cup thing has jumped the shark, too many controversies over the years and is it me or do those two sound like bumbling fools on stage? They talk over each other and in general the presentation ceremony is poorly executed. They have been at this for years, you would think they would have the routine down pat.

A few years back I cancelled my subscription because it was the same old thing, I could go back to the prior year for that month and see some of the same content. I like collecting the pins and have one from every year on my surf bag, I noticed the one from 2011 was rusting. Not a big deal, but we fish in the saltwater so haw about using a metal that wont rust in 3 months.

I probably wont join next year

That's why the Schaefer Cup died.
