Great White: cold water vs. food?

They will come in water that is in the mid 50's, so I would not doubt if there was one in there esp if their favorite treat is in there, which seem to be all over the place...

I was watching this show on Discovery the other week about an organization that collects data in an unorthodox but humane manner. IMHO Nut Jobs.. These people were just inches from 20'+ Great Whites and not just 1 or 2 but 6-7 of these monsters in the water. They were putting tags, GPS monitors and video cameras on these beasts... unfreaking real...

They showed that some of these monsters swam in 40F water and some went to depths of more then 1000'...

Keep in mind that MOST of what we know about these creatures is based on supposition and whatever data has been collected thru limited means (really limited means based on the rules and regulations that are entailed when studying these fish).
You can't seriously expect a fish, an apex predator, to just be content to wait for food to come to it?
I wonder how long Bull sharks spent "testing" their tolerance to fresh water before it became part of their genetic /evolutionary makeup?
Imagine having a 10-20' shark that was able to traverse and tolerate the waters of the Connecticut, North, Charles and Merrimack rivers?
Our "saving's grace" has been the combination of the water temps and the salinity of these waterways.
It looks like the Great Whites are tackling the temperature aspect pretty nicely!

Let's hope that the seals NEVER develop an affinity for fresh water!!

That fish that was at a 1000ft.....I wonder what the water temp. was down there........
