You must have come by right after we did. That same seal (pretty distinct color patter) was rolling around in the gully right after where the path goes high and tight to the dunes.
When we got there, the Coasties were still trying to figure out what happened. My guess was that he had the cruise control on and wasn't paying attention. Then, the rip and big winds we had dragged him onto shore - each wave picking him up and dropping him a little further onto the beach.
