it usually starts by June, complete by mid month, then sections start to open early July. Rarely is the whole beach open until mid August.

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

Mike, what's open in early July? Seems that's when the closures are at the highest. You got your sticker yet? I heard there were very long lines!

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

Put the boat in at the Pamet River. Its a 20 minute run to the race from there. Screw the birds the only thing they are good for is a squab dinner.

there's been pieces of beach open the last two 4th's. No rush for stickers this year - I got #98 on Thursday at the end of the day.

the overnight parking lot pass that Karl mentions is available at the visitor's centers, not the ranger stations.

By the way, I was joking about the lines.

I know I sound like an old fart but, it's this size fish I miss, which use to be common enough as to be expected whenever we went to the back.
Sure you can get a lot of the 15 to 25 pound fish in the boat, we do, but you don't see these too much anymore. We got an awful lot like this from the sand. It is the surf fishing I miss the most, bass fishing isn't the same to me in a boat. I'm convinced it's the seals keeping the fish spooked off the beach. They're close, but they don't get tight to shore with the regularity they did pre seals. I know you get the odd day or two but, the frequency of old is gone. I bet the bass can smell them easily.
Just an observation from someone with many years of Race sand in his shoes.
