Dems: sounds like 7Bil more in cuts will get there. do it.
Reps: Take the riders off the table. Don't mix idealogy w/ the budget at this point in the game.

both sides need to look at long term fixes at Medicare/Defense spending....

Here's an interesting tidbit regarding the government possible shutdown: All federal employees that are forced to take a furlow, for as long as it takes, will be back-paid when it is over.

How many of us REAL workers would be paid for not working during a layoff period?
Government employees that are furlowed cannot do any other work or risk possible prison time. (This one sounds like a stretch, but when you have a government like we do, hell, ANYTHING is conceivable)

When this "crisis" is over, they will automatically get their jobs back, yet how many hundreds of thousands of "real" workers had to start from square one when they lost their jobs due to the stellar ecomony we keep hearing about?

What it boils down to is that we currently have a govenment run by a circus of idiots that can't even decide which way is UP!!!

Incorrect....that is what happened last time they had a shutdown in 95 (I Think).

This is not the case yet for this one. It depends on how this all turns out as to whether they get back pay for this....and from what they are saying that may not happen this time.
