I never had it but I had an intrepid friend who was sidelined with it. About the only thing I can ever remember hearing that kept him out of action. I guess the good news is that it got better . I hope it gets better for you soon too.

best remedy is to stay off of it

if and when possible even if you use crutches to do so

your Doctor won't tell you this RON

as for arthritis... (i have it too)
the oldest and most effective remedy
is mixing APPLE cider vinegar (only 5 % ) real good for ya too

with equal parts Honey,
then stir them until they are completely blended together,
say two tablespoons each
then ya mix that into WELCHES grape juice to taste
and it tastes very much like WINE

the vinegar makes the calcium "build up" in your Joints
go back into solution thus relieving the inflamation

if you took chemistry in high school: remember the LITMUS paper
used to check acidity and or alkalinity of a chemical ?
same deal checkin chlorine in swimming pools kinda

well you can buy Nitrazine paper on a little roll at the pharmacy
and check your URINE periodically in the same fashion

if your diet is overly ALKALINE calcium will go from a solution
or from your blood into a precipitate (read harden)
and build up in your joints
Apple cider vinegar reverses this... LIKE Magic

Had it a few years ago and was a very painful experience. The first few steps after any period of rest were at time excruciating. Tried the inserts and the frozen water bottle exercises and both helped a bit but the only real solution was time. It eventually eased up and went away. Perhaps I was lucky but that is what happened to me and I sure as hell hope it never happens again. Good luck!
