Call me silly, but here's my explanation;

There have been lots of crazy weather patterns lately which have created unusual storms and such. I'm thinking a large flock of birds could get caught in a major updraft lifting them to as high as 50,000 feet and they could have been asphixiated and then plunged back to the ground causing the trauma to the bird's bodies that they saw when examining the dead birds.

I think the answer is much simpler than people are making it out to be, but what do I know.

The increasingly small world of knowing makes it easier to tie these random unrelated events together to conspirational-linked events.

The increase in off-the-cuff "answers" by instant experts who read on the innernets are causing quick conclusions such as the end of the world, alien probes, guvmint conspiracies, and Bush did it.

We've been living in the "end times" for almost 2000 years.

Early Christians expected the "second coming" in their lifetimes, based on a passage in the gospel of John where Jesus hinted that his "beloved disciple" would not die until he returned.

There was another flurry of end times predictions at the end of the first millenium.
