Families who think that a killer who offs himself, or is done in by fellow inmates, denies them justice have obviously never had the experience of going to court for 2+ years of continuances, and attending a 3 week long trial where photos and autopsy reports are shown and talked about, and where defense lawyers grill witnesses, and then have to sweat through jury deliberations which can take up to several days.
It is no picnic for the families of victims--I wonder how so many of them can do it. I admire them, but in all honesty, this is a better way for them, in the long run.

...worst part is that normally the whole thing doesn't go to court until at least a year, usually longer after the incident. So now you have to re-live it all again.
Sux.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Melissa Benoit was my best friend and next door neighbor. Ole Hanky Panky lived on the other side. As a 14 year old I spent 2 hours on the stand lookin at pictures of her body after it 'd been buried in his cellar for a week ......He got what he deserved in jail.
