- Document better within some classes of the competition. Maybe next year we have a "form" that people fill out on the classics, better explaining the job and intent. I noticed this was lacking when I was getting handed paper bag after paper bag.
Plugfest has always been about this great plug building community of people in the northeast (and beyond). Lets keep it what it is, a community event, and not over complicate it.

OK,
1. bigger place - CHECK
2. plan better, I have been working on it and thought I got started on it plenty early. I will need others help on the day of also.
3. We should do some sort of PDF on a thread where everyone will be required to print it out and include it with their entry/entries.sounds like a plan to me.
put it in your paper bag with your plug.
Who is going to organize this? volunteers? step right up one of you plug building computer expert geeks, because if it's left up to me, it won't happen unless my daughter helps me
HELP! please
I can try to make up some signs for the tables so guys know where to go with what plugs for what contest. that may make it less confusing.
THANK YOU

I'm not a computer geek but I'll do my best to help out. From my perspective we only need something to explain plugs in the Representation of a Classic category unless the builder feels the need to give people extra information about their plug. So I'm thinking on this form, Original Creators Name, a picture of the original, and any other information deemed noteworthy about the reproduction. If that sounds good I can make up a sample for people to follow.

Also I don't think a form is totally essential with entry but it is nice to have an understanding of where the plug came from.

I think the part about John being handed paper bag after paper bag, is why something besides your name needs to go with the plug.
And as far as voting purposes, last year we had no idea which plugs were in the classic category.
That is a start Dan, Thanks

Classic plugs are great, but last year Prof.s bass-aqua should have won hands down, as I saw nothing else that came close..in there lies the problem...if your not a classic collector and don't know the history behind the many that are out there...the adj. joe shouldn't be voting in that catogory...I over heard a few say...whats that thing? and his fishmaster got nothing but head scratching from the crowd.

agreed. I don't know jack squat about older plugs (and very little about newer ones). I would not feel comfortable voting in that category.

yep
ok a solution?
I am trying to atleast get it so the plugs are placed on the table in appropriate categories = novice/classic/general/flaptail
I am not the one who began this contest at plugfests and have had very little help since, a few have helped in the past like Bigfish, canalman,TTimber, Frank and JohnR etc. So if you can organize a separate ballot for the classics and a panel of judges Steve, then I can't see a solution to your observation. Ask the guys that are knowledgable in that area who will be attending if they can be judges or something. My plate seems to always be overflowing at this event. If that is what can be done to make it more fun and enjoyable for all than I am all for it.
Thanks

Another option would be to just put a note on the ballot that if you are not familiar with classic plugs don't vote for this category.

who else is a classic plug collector here on sb other then VB an CS an perhaps the prof.??..there must be a closet collector or two hiding in the wings that go to the fest...yes-no?....if not that leaves only those two/three to decide the fate of the best classic repro....are they willing? /CS says he'll do it...I'll pm the other two an see what their thoughts are....stay tuned.
maybe george would care to be included too.

I collect just no where near the level of the VB and CS, but have done my research on the vintage stuff.

Bruce, just another idea.
If you are still planning on having seperate tables for each category, what if you had single category ballots on each corresponding table?
It may make it a little easier for voters this way. And that way they vote on the categories they are familiar with.
5 tables, 5 ballots, 5 boxes. Or split each table, one category per half. This way you have more room for builders to display.
Just an idea to try to help limit the confusion.

ok....george...peter an steve are on board as judges....prof. is working..so we gotta wait till after daylite to hear from him.Figure any plug that get atleast two or better votes gets a wet kiss from VB.In case of a tie, the two top plugs will get voted on again.
