yes ,that is my understanding that the hybrids dark stripes are indeed broken...
yes, to your second question but farm raised means the "farm" is usually close to the ocean to have a supply of fresh water on hand.
fresh meaning  non polluted by fish waste...
i agree Slipknot...how is it that netted fish can be sold cheaper than farm raised?

Here's a pic of a farm raised striper. Note the solid stripes.
One of the biggest farms for stripers is located in the desert in Arizona. They use filtered water, so they don't need to be anywhere near the ocean.

i worked in aquaculture for almost ten years. farm raised means land, permits, taxes, electricity, food, labor, transportation....so much more. i tried to start a scallop farm in ct. i needed 8 permits before i was allowed to begin sales. federal, state and local. needless to say, there are no scallop farm in ct.
