Put the rod to a good test this weekend. Throwing 3/4 and 1 oz slab spoons (mostly 3/4 oz) in screaming current. No problem getting 50-60 yards with the 3/4 oz one (5501 pro rocket, 14# fireline). No monsters, but did get several Hybrid stripers in the 5-7# range (think 5-7# bluefish). Currents rivaled Cape Cod Canal currents moving away from me, plus bridge pilings and other obsticles mean tight quarters. Rod handled those fish just fine. Never felt undergunned and plenty of back bone for larger fish. Definitely a better option for that area than the Arra.
