I'd say if you have to ask if it's too small then it is too small. I don't do any cod fishing but I have to imagine there may be some closer spots you could try. There's got to be some deep holes or ledges you could hit that hold ground fish this time of year.

i make the run out to the bank in my 19 cc on a regular basis. my rig is a glorified bay boat, gunnels aren't very high. i just watch the weather like a hawk and at the first sign it getting nasty i hightail it out of there. i'm usually the little boat out there but sometimes see smaller boats on fac days. maybe take a few runs out to the b buoy and see how it goes. remember - if you have to ask yourself if it's a good idea, it's usually not. good luck
