I was diagnosed about 11 years ago with sleep apnea..Stopped breathing over 100 times a night during the test...
Doctor prescribed a c-pap machine #10...Took a while to get used to,but after 11 years now I cant realy sleep without it..I have never slept better using it..

i had the study done and have tried 2 machines with different masks and can not get used to it. almost ready to try the surgery but was told 20 -30% of the people the surgery does not help and that it is one of the most painful surgeries you can have. The guys at the fire house call me the human thunder machine and my wife even with ear plugs goes to the other room sometimes. Getting desperate and my new health ins pays very littlefor sleep disorders.

I'll third what Basic Patrick and SKD have said here already.
I was a world champion snorer for the last 20 years. My wife the nurse knew I had OSA and finally just about had to drag me to get a sleep study last March. Put me in the severe category, and I started on cpap (6 bars) in April. It SUCKED the first couple of months, and many nights I tore that mask off my face just so I could get some "sleep". I was finally able to work my way up to a couple of hours in a row each night, then about four, but I still wasn't convinced it was doing anything. Then they changed me to a different mask in July and bumped me up to 7 bars, and I'm getting through the whole night now, and was just thinking a couple days ago how much better I was feeling in the morning, and realized I wasn't dozing off at my desk in the afternoons anymore. That and my blood pressure is lower than it's been in years.
It's not fun getting used to it, but stick with it cause it works and has a lot of great benefits.

I have OSA, and this thing has worked for me. I couldn't get used to the CPAP. This may not work for every one, but it worked for me, and was only 60 bucks. For me it was a no brainer to try it. My wife says I am no longer snoring, no longer am I stopping breathing. I feel much better in the morning, and no longer tired during the day. If you have ever had braces you know what I mean by a little discomfort to get used to. My teeth, and jaw ligaments are no longer sore in the morning. I should add that I had a rhino plasty last year to have a deviated septum fixed. I am not sure if this would have worked pre surgery or not.
Seriously like Patrick said if you think you have OSA get a sleep study, I did. If the prescribed stuff doesn't work then you have another option to fall back on.

Well one morning I woke up early to get my fill of fishing shows, kind of beating the wife and daughter out of bed. I was flipping by espn, or nesn and there was an infomercial on. I watched it, was intrigued, and went to the website. Once there I said go for it. The rest is history.
