last batch for me...
Here's most of the last batch, I thought I was done but I just found two I primed and brought upstairs to foil and forgot about...
Here's some white and yellow. It was very hard to just paint a plug white and leave it at that...
The big ones are 6 1/2 " and around 3.5 oz and the smaller ones are 5 1/2 "and between 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 oz.

And some lead. I'd been messing with tin and Its harder for me to work with and its $$$, so I decided to just pour lead and wrap it in foil...
I epoxied them with rod building epoxy which is soft, hopefully it will dent when they hit the rocks rather than chip...

Love those spook poppers.
I've got some old squids that were called tin clads. They're lead plated with tin. Not sure how they did that, any electrochemists out there? Probably isn't difficult.

Just a guess
Melting point of lead is 621 degrees F
Melting point of tin is 450 degrees F
with clean lead I would think the tin would stick pretty well

Too funny. I seem to run out of gas a little easier each year. More is a really bad idea for me...
I've been fishing 3 times and I already have changes in mind for some of the offcenter stuff I did. Testing in the winter is a really poor substitute for putting it on some fish and seeing what they do with it...
I'm starting to think I should finish about 1/2 the stuff I turn each winter and just leave the rest of the blanks unfinished so I can make tweaks to the designs, change weight schemes and hook locations as the season goes along.
I tried turning some stuff last summer and the dust just stuck in the sweat. |
