I have somewhere's around 20 surfcasting books.
The Art of Surfcasting with Lures is the best.
I can tell that you love to fish.
Thanks for writing it.
I kinda wish you left in a few more Zenoisms.

Z's book is the best thing to come down the pike on bass fishing since the first edition of Woolner & Lyman's Striped Bass Fishing.

Period end of story.

Why even try.........

Good time for a shameless plug....

Try The Call Of The Surf from SRI Press....
The second edition of the first book about surfcasting, most of which takes place along the Jersey shore, when it was so remote and wild you had to bring a tent....$15.99 - free shipping from the dedicated site I made for it, or get it at SRI Books & Videos page

Wow.....that is definitely unexpected.........but much appreciated.
If this book was read by someone with your experience ,I would be happy.
The fact you liked it is a cherry on the top

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned John Cole. He has several great fishing books, and I would recommend "Fishing Came First" as a starting point. These aren't how-to books but they are a great read.

John Skinner is a Surf editor of Noreast Saltwater magazine and very highly regarded angler in NY.The stories takes you from the time fish shows up ,to big bas in the inlets in spring ,his first 50 , LI sound fishing in summer thru fall run and finally to end during herring run. There is a huge mako boat story and kayak trip in there too.Irrelevant to surf but extremely interesting. All ,in all ,a good winter read

Zeno

BTW if you are into reading something good with a LI theme read the
Al Reinfelder chapter in George Reiger's Profiles in Saltwater Angling.

Excellent.

Also BTW: Congrats on all the positive feedback on your book. It is on my list.

Thanks for this thread - it reminded me to order a few new books.

Recommendations:
20 Years on the Cape - one of the best surf fishing books
Al Bensten's rigged eel chapters in Secrets of Surf Fishing at Night
On the Run
Reading the Water

If you're new to the sport - Striper Surf
