the nice folks manning the Trustee gates on the Chappy side have been known to let people on the beach without the 4WD permit, if conditions are fairly slow (at night, after high touron season).
BTW, the best spots on the island are the ones that you walk to.
Is the location of this house already known?
Sounds interesting I spend some time out there in a small open boat that time of year, it would be nice to have a spot to warm up.
