Drill bit sharpeners?
Does anyone use these and if so which one works best? Just can't help but think like every other cutting tool keeping them sharp they will work better, plus I have a pile of old dull bits laying around.

I doo a lot of drilling on my job. Bought a Drill-Doctor. Worth every dime I spent, around 100 bucks. Drill gets dull, sharpen it and go on. Love it.

I agree with Jake. I got the 500 model--I think it's the SX2. It's the one that'll let you split the points of bits.
I now think I would have been better off with the most expensive one (about $150 as opposed to about $100) because it's the only one that'll sharpen both bit tip angles.

I use the drill doctor as well. FANTASTIC! However, that NEW one they show on TV looks even better  |

A good eye and a grinding wheel or unlimited supply of new drills are what I prefer. Flat bottom drills are tougher to grind so you are probably too far advanced for the drill doc, Ed.  |

The angle is adjustable. Put the index on the chuck at 115 degrees not 135. Big difference. I was doing the same thing with my first tries.Then I read the instruction book  . Now I get razor sharp bits every time. |

Yes 118 degrees for softer regular drilling and 135 for the hard stuff like steels and such.
