You'd be surprised at how easy a basic fade is with a spray can. Just make sure you're stroke is smooth and straight...and don't build up too fast so the color runs.

Cool! Do I want to open spray, or get one of those red tubes to limit it to a more fine spray?

I'd start out by just using the can as is. A two or even three color fade is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. If you mean a tube like you'd see with WD40 I don't think it will help as the spray will be too concentrated and will run.

But feel free to play around. You can do some neat things with very simple masks.
