Thanks Ronnie
That gave me goosebumps
He was absolutely the best ever
no question he was better than even Gretsky.
I wish hockey didn't get ruined, I miss it but they don't make players like Orr anymore, I can't believe the things he was able to do.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

No question, Gretsky was great ( on offense ) but Orr was great at every part of the game, offense, defense, and could fight!!!

WOW!!!

Thats the only way to describe him! Ronnie....best link I have ever clicked on...thanks for that! He sure was the supreme stick handler and his sense of timing and his surroundings were the most incredible any hockey player has ever had! Without a doubt the greatest hockey player in history....and we were blessed to have had him here in Boston!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Not only the greatest hockey player ever in my opinion,
But one of the greatest role models ever!!!
probably the most humble star ever, unlike the typical all about me and my money athlete of today!
I feel very gratefull to have been able to grow up watching him play!

"The goal" is actually the first memory I have of Orr and he was the reason I started playing hockey, like every kid at that time. I wish I could have seen him when he first started with the B's but I was just a baby.

The best ever.

Gretsky wouldn't have survived half a season on the NHL in Orr's era

BINGO !!!
Gretsky was an offensive magician, but without a goon to protect him, he would not have hasted 1/2 a season back then, Gordie Howe would have leveled him just to prove that point !!! and Orr could and did drop the gloves whenever necessary!
But Gretsky wasn't as bad as Mario Lemeaux,
In my opinion, another amazing offensive player, but the biggest 6ft4 pussy who ever laced them up!

It's apples & oranges. Gretzky played in a much more diluted league. He was surounded by superstars. Even the 3rd line on those Cup teams were allstars. How many H of F players were there? Blueliners...allstars, goalie... Hof F. I believe those teams would have won the Cups even without him, in fact, they did. Orr put the NHL on the map throughout the country. To further overuse a phrase, he made everybody around him better, much better. Esposito made a living and set a scoring record (at the time) just hanging around the net and scooping rebounds. #4 got in front of enough pucks to keep Cheevers star shining. Even his own players on the ice with him would find themselves in awe and mesmerized by his supremacy. He's got my vote for #1 all time . BTW, anyone ever hear #9 , Detroit RedWings?????

Catch'em up,
ThomCat

You know what--you're probably right after all--the refs probably would have made it a two minute minor just to breathe on him, and a major to actually check him

He was the single most protected player in NHL history.
