Did you have your water tested, I just installed one in an elder care place.
and have had training in filtration. first you have to get the water tested then see what is needed to treat the water. some time just a softener other times you have to nutralize(spelling?) the water before the softener.
knowing what is needed is your first step.

yup, had it tested. went to corcoran plumbing on rte. 18 and they came to the house. i guess this area is known for it's water issues. he's put in a silly number of systems. what i need is a new well cap, a deeper well, a pump in my well, a 4' trench to the house for 220 volt and the water pipe, a bigger pump in my basement and the filtration system. i guess water softener, salt tablets just won't cut it. i lived for 3 years about 2.5 miles away and drinking water from the tap was like poland springs.

Your probably looking at $10,000.00 plus for all that work.
the salt is just for cleaning the beads inside the softener.
I would suggest having your realestate agent get some money
back from the seller, that's what I did when the built in pool
liner was ripped and the seller said it was fine.

get 3 prices and take the middle one. I live to far from you
unless you buy the system have it there and then I install it
