The good OLD days on the farm jumping from the loft into the fresh hay and finding the lost pitchfork going fishing at the middle pond with grubs dug out of the cowsh-t pile the bull in the pen near the barn that just did not like me The ford tractor with the gray hood cover,by the way it was the ONLY auto on the farm. I saw one the other day all fixed up and new looking boy did that take me back. Who can forget the trip to the out house in the middle of the night in the winterand I do recall there being a Sears and Robuck catalog in there. Having to fight the chickens for your morning eggs. Tex the deaf and half blind ram that loved to sneakup behind me and butt me to the ground and run off before I could get back up to fight The deer in the garden that always got more than we did.The sheep at sheering time all bald and skinny The seaplane that would fly over and drop the weeks mail and newspapers out as the dog chaced it overhead. The small boat my dad made so mom could keep me near her as she dug quahogs. The lobster feasts with all the family and freinds there. Anns hut hidden in the woods far from the white farm house. Walking the shore and picking up lost fishing lures The water from the well that was ALWAYS ice cold The large fireplace in every room of the farm house. The sound of the bellbuoys at night that would lull me to sleep. The way my dad could tell what size ship was passing the island on still nights by the sound the large props would make pushing the water. Walking to the Gray house then the Red house then to Ann's hut just for something to do some days. Watching my uncle cut up quahog shells to make mosaics with them. ( if you go to Cuttyhunk you can see some at the church) The way we got to watch ONE tv show per week as it cost to much to run the generator. The kerosene lamps that lite the night and the kero heaters that kept me warm. The smell of fresh baked bread in the kitchen. The cream on top of the milk in the glass bottle that we would fight over (yum). Should I go on

Thanks Jenn

How come no one mentioned the sheep

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I must have been about 6.... couple older guys brought me into Nappy(Napoleon) Barber`s slaughter house on a small farm.... in total shock and amazement I watched him slaughter a cow and two large hogs....strung them up shot in head with a .22 pistol....throats slit to bleed....steaming entrails falling into the 55 gallon drums.....
I`m not sure if this was a good thing but it was amazing.
Good health and family
