In April the lakers come into the shallows at Wachusett after anything that moves. I can't help but think a pickerel colored needle could be a big hit. The bigger fish last year went 13-14 pounds, several of them. And there was that new state record that was caught just a year or so ago that went 24 pounds. These are all shore caught, there's no boats allowed, and they all fell to lures.

Lakers like the flash of spoons but hey, you have to wonder. Or maybe you can get that in there somehow. Other colors worth trying are perch and smelt. But the pickerel is just such a match for the shape!

You know I'd be very happy to test something . I'm all over that place in April. For a needle who knows, maybe 5/8 or 3/4 would be right. It would need to be something that can be worked at all levels, and deep especially.

So what is a PIK-STICK?
