There's one major differance between Janet's boob and this weeks race and that is the 5 second delay. It has been in affect since the boob.
The "censors" at Fox were sleeping at the wheel but that's not a reasonable excuse. Why?
One of the major differances between Nascar and all other sports is that crew to driver conversations can be intercepted by a scanner and that's why the innappropriate language rule as defined by Nascar was adopted.Simply put no exceptions, well except in this case obvisiously.
Geez I wonder why Nascar would allow that?
The 1 team should be fined $10,000 and 25 driver points just like any other team would be penalized.Period.

Then shouldn't teams be fined for swearing over the radio even if it doesn't get put on TV, they'd have to fine the whole field every week almost? Personally, I just think that this is Fox's fault and that they need to be more careful. Junior was different because he did it in an interview that was meant for TV, although I still don't think he should have lost points.

Exactly...an interview MEANT for tv is way different than teams talking on the radio....you CHOOSE to listen to that on the scanner than thats not their problem and if they want to air it on tv then they have plenty of time to "bleep" it out...that is on the networks shoulders if you ask me.
oh and I dont care if its DEI, Rousch, or whoever!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong I agree it should be on the networks shoulders but the networks broadcast crew to driver transmissions, which means live tv hence the 5 second rule set by the FCC.Nascar itself has set the policy about inappropriate language.Basically what it comes down to is this:if the language gets broadcasted the team gets penalized. This is the modern era you can't use foul language even on crew to driver radio transmissions.
The 1 team violated the rule and the penalty should have been enforced. There's only one reason it wasn't...Nascar itself.Nascar does not want to be in an unfavorable position especially when it comes to the opinion of the majority of fans.Period.
This is a good read: http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/head...lle/index.html
But I digress its Martinsville weekend and we all know JG's gonna win provided Truex can control himself.

I wonder if Martin learned his lesson about playing around with the big boys last weekend when Tony put him in the wall. I love when their are two short track races in a row. And Jimmy Spencer is running on Sunday also. Should be a good one.

Are you saying that only broadcasted stuff should be penalized? That wouldn't be fair at all. If they are going to penalize then they should listen to all radio communication for all teams and go that route. Why should a particular team get ruled against just because their stuff was broadcast and another team may have said the same things but not penalize because it didnt get broadcast. Thats not fair...???

Jenn what Nascar needs to do is define this rule clearly and explain it to all.As it stands now the rule allows fuzzy decision making which in turn can allow decisions favorable to one team and not so favorable to others. The consequences also need to be defined, one team gets fined buy another gets fined and loses points.

That can be said about every rule NASCAR has. Way too much room for interpretation. Anybody see Robby Gordon's comments on that on Wind Tunnel this week. And speaking of wind tunnel, did any else hear Biffle's mom call in the week before and complain that they weren't talking enough about greg.
