Nib, that guy was Stan Kuzia - guru for sure. It's 20 minutes further NIb to Gillette

I think it would be a great feature to have the turning demos again this year , I was wondering about it myself recently. Larry, I know you are busy lately but I think you and Patrick should try to make this happen again.
I think the problem with compesation with payment of money for doing the demo is an issue with liability to the club. Maybe some way of compensation can be considered some other way if it's difficult to get volunteers. Things went pretty smoothly last year and it seemed to be very safe. You had 3 guys that are professionals with tools so you knew you had plenty of experience behind there.
I'll see what I can do about getting a day to spend there, but the boss will have to be schmoozed I'll work on it.

Flap, yes we were allowed to sell plugs if we chose to. I sold a whopping ONE plug last year.
You are right, MSBA will have to figure out the logistics of the demo.

I have no problem with it Bruce just wanted to get the whole picture out is all in a clear honest way. And again I say they should be compensated and as far as liability goes, signing a simple waiver holding the MSBA harmless in case of personal injury or damge to tools and equipment is all that is needed.

Why even try.........

yep, I know

and we signed something last year as I remember.

I'd do it again this year but like others have said, it's alot of work. I don't mind doing it for the club, even though I seem to never make it to the club cookout that they have every year.

I hope the show is a huge success.

Myself and MSBA much appreciated all the folks who helped with last years demo. The cards were on the table in advance and CS, MAC and Slip knew the deal. They spent the whole weekend in there, it was fun but I too feel more compensation is required. I tried for some last year, got some donations from site sponsors (thanks to those guys M & D's, #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& and NJTackle). I will talk to who I need to talk to and see what I can do. Slip, MAC and Capesams....would you be interested if I can get it done?

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Hi guys, I have to agree with the fact that the plug turning demo was one of my favorite parts of the expo last year. Even though I hardly had any time to actually hangout and watch you guys turn for more than a few minutes at a time, it was a pure example of what MSBA wants in terms of an expo imho. Guys hanging out shooting the chit enjoying themselves. It's a social event not just some stagnant tackle exposition.
You guys did voltunteer a great deal of time. As did alot of other volunteers between the setup on friday to the very last hours of breakdown on sunday night. That is what makes the show happen, volunteers. It isn't easy to get alot of people willing to donate time to their club, believe me (I have a volunteer sheet for this years show, and it's only half full) But, I do think there should be some type of compensation if the show continues to grow. That's just my opinion. I will bring it to the show comittee, and i would love to see a turning demo this year..

Used hard and put away dirty....

The guys that were doing the plug building last year were fantastic, and as people have already said, well worth the price of admission! I hope it happens again!

Since the monetary might run into "legal" issues, how about a "tip bucket" for the people turning. Something that would read, "due to legalities, we are not being compensated for our time and effort. Tips appreciated" or something.....I know I'd donate for it!!

It was a great pleasure to "pick some brains" while they were turning! I learned a great deal from it and thank you guys for doing it!
