After many years of inactivity, I did the same. My best experience has been with New Balance. You can get them at a #^^^^&s or Sports Authority. I am running 3-5 miles 3-4 times per week. At that pace, the best running shoes only last 6 months before they need to be replaced. The shoes still looks fine but loses its shock absorbtion ability. Alot of interesting reading in a publication called runners world, purchase it at any magazine shop or supermarket. Many times this magazine does write ups on sneaker comparisons for runners. That is how I stumbled onto new Balance running shoes. Good sneakers will make your feet much happier with the pounding running will cause on you body, but there is no better way to stay in shape and get a great cardiovascular workout.

If you're going to run a lot I'd really suggest going to a good store that can help match the shoe to you're specific running style. Most of the top names are decent quality, but if you really want comfort (and happier running) you need a shoe that fits more than your foot.

I used to love running, especially in spring along a course we have here that follows the beaches, and in winter on the indoor track at the local Y. The track has huge windows along one side that lets in the natural light. Alas, no matter what kind of shoe I used, I still had big problems with my knees, shins, and ankles. Started using the eliptical running machine at the Y instead. Exact same running motion with Zero impact.
Purchased our own eliptical this past Xmas. One o' the best toys we've ever bought ourselves.
Also picked up an Ab Lounge for good measure. Crunches have never been so efficient.

run jane run . see #^^^^& run . see #^^^^& chase jane see spot chase #^^^^&
stop drinking that fat beer and start drinking straight gin . If nothing else your kill your liver in 10 years but you wont be fat and you will always have the taste of pine in your mouth .
I dont like the running shoes made today . shock absorbers and wheels and lights . they look too spacey for this burn out .
Give me my pro keds high tops anyday . ( even my daughters like them )

Ok, when you see a bald man and a very, very, very hairy man staggering down the lane together in hi-top keds drinking a handle of Tanqueray, you all better look out...especially if it's two bald men and the aforementioned hairy man.
I'm on my way to the packy, then #^^^^&'s right after that!!! Chris, I'll meet you at Mohegan at 5!!!
LOL!!!!!!!
