What I did wasglue one3/8 in. magnet in my 6500 and works well with no blocks. There is no adjustment but it helps enough where I do not need the blocks. The 3/8 is the same size and strength as the one in my Penn mag 970. I bought them at Lee Valley tools.

christian, if you do it, use superglue gell and make sure you clean the sideplate really well with isopropal alcohol Start with 2 or 3 1/4x1/10" mags.. you have to put them in opposing polarity order, North, south, north or south, north, south.... then glue 3 washers from lee valley where you want the magnets. Then just stick the magnets to the washers. If you feel there is too much, remove a magnet. if there is too little, add a magnet.

magnets friggen rock.
i got them about 10 mins ago. hot glued a few into my jigmaster, since its the easiest thing to open....its like, AWSOME.
i set them up like you said eben, norht/south/north, i put in 3 1/4" ones, without washers though, im going to grab some on the way back from the field im testing at. from the looks of it, ill probly do better with fewer.
thanks for the help guys.
