I'm confused. You want maple for plugs or for jigs to hold materials steady on the drillpress, bandsaw or other powertool? If for a holding jig, take 1X stock and laminate/glue the pieces together.

What is 1x stock? Do you just glue the pieces together with gorilla glue and the machine the correct jig?
I have always had difficulty doing this with anything other than solid stock, hence my question.

1X stock is 3/4 inch thick. I prefer titebond three for gluing. Clamp overnight. I did this with oak for the rails on my tablesaw's movable caster system. What are you using this for again?

how much do you need Bill?

I have 4 jigs to make for plugging, pen making and shaving brushes. All for drilling on my 12" drill press. If I am taking 1x stock I am looking 24 board ft 6" wide. The brush jig needs to be 2" minimum

I also want to make a jig for grinding poppers with the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& offered grinders so add another 12 board foot.

I don't understand why you want hard maple but if that's what you need, maybe an old piece of butcherblock countertop would do.

What you would make jigs out of?
I don't like MDF etc. for that. I can't find other material that is stiff enough.
