I don't see why not as long as it was not a "swimming beach" . . . I've heard of guys doing this before . . . if memory serves me it was guys shark fishing with really big baits that would cast well.

2,000 feet . . . better have a lot of line on that reel

I hope you have a big boat with a strong motor. If you hook into a cow she might sink yer ship!

It's been done before as mentioned. People have used RC boats , kites , etc to get the bait out there. Its even been used in fresh water on large lakes to get to trout in hard to access areas , not just far out areas.

Boat will be around 56". I will use it just to take my line out there and drop it.

Good idea as long as the Blues don't rob your bait on the way out.

No different than taking a kayak to put out your baits..

Now if you were really taking it to the next level, imagine a RC Helicopter and one of those matrix fish finders, you could have a dipping sonar like the boys in blue.... Or a larger fixed wing with a release mechanism to drop your danny - just watch out for lobster pots...

Many surfcasters say that "boat fish don't count". What would a fish be if caught in this manner?
