locks
Larry when you shop for locks if you look on the package you will see a number. If you buy packages with all the same numbers the locks will use all the same keys.

locks
Their are only about 200 different combinations. The only a unique keys can be made is if a locksmith is call in to make up new keys for that particular lock.
Years ago I use to help my uncle out at his garage. One winter day I did a road service call for a mustang that would not start. We arrived at the beauty parlor and I hopped into the 70 stang and it started right up. I drove it to the garage in Rockland so he could look at it. Awhile later the same lady called and wondered why we hadn't pick up the car. We drove back with the mustang we took for service and found the other stang four or five spaces away. The keys I just used to take the wrong car started both mustangs. Thank god the first owner was under the drier in the parlor and didn't know we stole her car inadvertantly.

keyed dead bolts on either side have been outlawed in mass for quite some time now...supplyer's here won't sell them.... my naba was in insurance for over 40 years..said when it come's down to paying off or not paying..all they want to know is was it forced entry or did they just walk in....if you come home to an empty house and you forgot to lock it up,,,,close the door and kick it in or break the window in the BACK of the house.....then sit back and watch your insur. rate's go sky high after you've put in a claim...I've been hit twice in my life time.

When I was still in High School, I discovered that my Mom's Delmont 88 key would start my buddie's 63 Impala. I kept that to myself, but I did move his car everytime I caught it unattended. He thought he was going nuts!

Forced entery?
Hell my borther-in-law can pick about 90% of the locks out there faster than you can blink.

In the early seventies my parents had a 72 Landrover, another family in town did also. My dad came out of the hardware store one day, got in his car (he thought), started it and as he went to drive away said "who put this stuff in here". Same car, same color, same key.

A whole box of them and I said "youre kidding me"!!!! I had no idea! then the guy comes over and says "yeah gimme five minutes and I can get the deadbolts to match too" !!!????

Capesams, I hope you didnt take that as a stab at your comment.....I had no idea they werent allowed in MA.....but I remembered seeing them in the store and was curious how a store can sell them if they arent allowed????I am sure there are a lot of people out there that would buy them not knowing. I personally think they are a bad idea because I can just picture myself trying to find my $#@!**&#^ keys during a fire or something and end up dying because I couldnt get out!!!
