Pancake Compressors?
Are they good to air-brush with? Thinking of picking one up...135 psi at Homies for $189.00.....even comes with a nail gun I will never use!  Don't they sell the darn things without the nail guns?  |

I'd find one cheaper without the gun. Just about anything will work...get a good regulator.

I don't know as this is the one I'd buy, but you should be able to do one for about a hundred and buy a good water seperator on top of that.

Picked up a nice delta from wood craft about 2 yrs ago for $100 even, nice compressor and hasnt let me down yet...

the nail gun is a hundred .....and comes freee with that unit...BF i know i bought one and use the gun....and the same compressor costs almost the same if you bought it alone.... trade the gun....

I've had good luck at Home Depot and Lowes by getting to know the tool corral managers and finding out when the rebuilts are in. Got a twin tank compressor at 45% off and both Paslode guns for half price. I especially like the fact that the compressor was gone over with new gaskets, rings etc.
With regards to the pancake's capacity, as long as your not priming all 100 plugs at the same time, it should keep up. I know even a twin tank will struggle to keep up with spraying a good size piece of furniture. But it should be good enough for what I think you want to do Larry. Aftermarket regulator is a must, the OEM regulators are designed for controlling brad nailers and smaller finish guns. CS and Slip might know better about matching spray equipment with a pancake. Or FF

Larry -- I picked up a Taskforce compressor from Loews on sale for about 80 bucks. 2 gallon thank and 125 pounds pressure with the pressure reducer on it. No nail gun, but plenty of juce for airbrushing all night! It is oilless and the only thing I added was a water separater. That was a add on because everyone said I would need one. ( I haven't had any water in the unit yet! )
Be sure to set up some kind of fiter system if you are spaying inside.

I bought the twin tank Craftsman Professional. I bought it because parts and service are immediately available should they be needed.
The 3HP compressor recovers very quickly but the 4 gallon tank capacity is to low for air tools. It has a double hook up and a regulator. I added the filter and one line has a lubricator (the line for the air brush obviously does not!). It's small enough to fit under the bench.  |

been using a Porta Cable pancake for 2 years. No issues. Got the finished nail gun with it and now my wife has me building all kind of book cases, boxes for firewood. Really does come in handy.
