Sorry I can't help ya!!! I am very fortunate that I do not take any drugs , not even aspirin at my young age of 59 years young!!!!

If you want to be a walking Zombie then take anti-depressants!!!!!

It seems today that everybody is on some type of meds, even kids!!!!!

Two tears in the rotor cuff in the shoulder a month ago, doctor says: do ya want a silicone shot : No Way!!!! Do ya want to operate: Not unless I have to!!! Hopefully will heal in the next year!!! did the other shoulder two years ago!!! Healed by it self!!!

Rickbomba!! bite the bullet and get on with your life!!!

And do not just blame your wife for your misgivings!!!!

Fly,
Not blaming the ex, just speaking about her therapist's course of action.
Trying to get on with my life, just walk around in my sleep like a zombie every night.
This thread was not some sort of poor me bs, just looking to see if anybody had any experience with the meds they'd like to put me on.
Maybe invite me over for the night, and I can show you the problem firsthand!
Just a joke (but not really for me).
Later,
Rick

Have you tried Ambien or Sonata (sleeping pills)? They knock you out with minimal side-effects the following morning.

As for long term side-effects, I don't know.

Good luck with finding a solution, I wish you the best.

Rick, I take it you've consulted a specialist in sleep disorders. If you haven't, then I would urge you to. You have some world-class second-to-none medical care in Boston (Mass General being one of top hospitals, period).

If you think the risk-to-reward tradeoff is worth it, then by all means give it a try. You can always stop. I'm assuming the FDA has approved this medication for your particular condition.

My own bias is that I would rather not use meds long-term. Diet and exercise and stress management can work wonders in improving your quality of life.

But I'm not your doctor.

I pray you find a solution to your predicament.

Exclamation several thoughts

as we are all walking bags of chemicals......................................... first

i always think "first" of a chemical imbalance and how to correct it....

and i'm not talking about FDA approved chemicals...
__________________________________________________ ________________
in my OPINION the FDA couldnt approve themselves out of a wet paper bag!
they also created the RDA (recommended daily allowance) which is so far
off the scale from reality that its not even worth discussing.................
__________________________________________________ _________________
how many times have you heard that an FDA approved drug is now suddenly
being called off the market because they NOW have found that it causes more problems than it was designed to solve......
__________________________________________________ _______________
the problem with any medication is that eventually we become resistant to its effects requiring you to take a higher dose ...upwards and onward it goes
until you reach a saturation point and your liver finally says F U man .....
and /or your skin starts creating these huge poison excretion blisters to rid yourself of it.... then there's the recombination factor when several drugs being taken combine to create a whole new problem....its an endless and futile approach.

i tend to agree with fish wee wee's assessment except that i would contact a sleep research center that will pay you $$$ to STUDY you while they seek an answer.... make money in your sleep ....and take advantage of it.
