I think that is the same rod, I use 50# Cortland Braid its just the regular braid not the super line stuff much cheaper but has a larger diameter. The Spectron is thinner and can be a problem if your not used to it. Many of the party boats do not like their fares to use superbraids but don't mind the regular stuff. Mono seems to work OK in shallow water (less than 100 feet) or bait fishing but I don't like useing it. I do use a shock leader of about three feet some guys will use much longer.
