I'm starting the season off in Mexico. I have a couple of days booked with a guy who specializes in vertical jigging for monster amberjacks - should be interesting. I've got another day booked with a backcountry tarpon trip

I like to think I've already started with 2 cod trips this winter.. :-)
Next up squid, Schoolies , haddock, black backs,,,, and anything that swims til the funnies ...
Hoping the stars line up for a couple BFT trips,, I'm finally geared up for it..

Started already. North Caicos with Sauerkraut. DIY trip. Real tough conditions most days but had fun. Took a while but we got some fish.

Driving to Sarasota FL Saturday for a couple weeks of golf, fishing and beach time. I have a Hobie 2018 PA14 kayak reserved for the two weekends I'm down there and will hit the bay for trout, redfish and what ever else wants to bite. Hope the weather cooperates and I can get some good intel when I get down there, but a fellow kayaker from another site has shared some good starting points and methods.

You will have fun. Had a couple of AJs in the 50lb class on very light gear in the keys and abacos. They are a workout.

When I was 14 my dad took my on a jigging for donkey trip. stuck a 70# amberjack. took me about 45 min to reel it in myself. I was so exhausted after I was throwing up over the side of the boat. Those things are horses. |
