I use a dropper almost all of the time that I fish with plugs. Sometimes fish will only hit the dropper and other times just the plug, but I do believe that the dropper adds to the attraction of the plug itself. I agree with using the longest leader that you are comfortable with but if you leader is only 2 to 3 feet long, I would not hesistate to use a dropper. I do worry sometime that a fish that just takes the dropper can be hung up by the trailing plug if I gets caught on a rock or something else.
