Weekends were spent chasing bass and wondering where the high liners were catching. In the middle of the night we would meet at bars and bowls chasing stripes from Balston,Longnook,Head of the Meadow...a 20 mile stretch of sand filled with characters. Guys like Manzi, Avalon and other entertaining salts. Started friendships with Habs,Tattoo, the Bombas,Hacksaw and Chef from Ptown Inn. Money was short but it was nothing but good times and making memories. Some of the characters are gone but the memories will last forever.

This year is the first year in as far as I can remember I haven't got a over sand pass at Race Point, Sandy neck is a whole lot better for beach goers, I haven't yet fished there but plan on doing some in the future

I get an Over Sand Permit every year (for many years now). I live in Truro and I've been out twice all year which works out to $75 a trip. The closures are just crazy and I have to think next year I won't even bother. As far as Nelson's is concerned I'm personally surprised Rich was able to continue operating the shop as long as he did. He down sized a bit this year but at some point it really must have become a public service more than anything else. Nelson's was a landmark, sorry to see it disappear amid governmental over-management of wildlife with little regard to ensuring responsible human access to these natural resources.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
