A business has a right to fire someone if they make stupid remarks, even if it is considered "free speech". If you owned a business and one of your employees said that pedophilia is great and shouldn't be a crime, would you feel comfortable having him work for you? I guess you'd want to keep him because what he said is protected under "free speech".

Not when a major network has a contract with his signature on it.

Since nobody cares what you say at your job, you probably wouldn't get fired. You're not a public figure, though. And if you ever said that to my face, getting fired or banned would be the least of your worries. You'd be eating your cake through a straw in the hospital.
