I never uttered a peep. Played deaf, made a few more casts and left because the bite was pretty much over. Everything in my post after that was just what i was thinking to myself which became an internet rant because this guy was probably sleeping in his feety pajamas through the best part of the tide .
maybe its just me, but if anyone is willing to talk to me while im out fishing and im not into a fish at that moment, ill put my rod down for five minutes and have a nice chat. i find it a nice way to relax and possibly learn something new as im still young and have a lot to learn about the sport and the spots that i fish. 9/10 times that i have done that, the person that has asked me quote "any luck" is the person that i end up chatting with for 5-10 mins and finding out what he did to hook up with fish recently. for instance, i was on the vineyard fishing last summer and a guy came up to me at night and asked just that. i said nah nothing really and ive been out here for 2 hours and tried just about every plug in my bag. he said he had been out ther the past few nights and tried everything too until last night he rigged up a teaser in front of his danny and was hitting them HARD. i took his advice immediately and within hour or so, had a 32# on the rocks. i would have never tried that if i had not engaged in any conversation... i always have felt if you are nice to someone, they will show u that exact same gratitude. too many "spots" are known these days and the people that you meet at those spots are obviouslllyyyy there for a reason ---> cause they know fish are there. now why you wouldnt try to engage in a little chit chat to see how things are and if that person was using a plug that you werent to catch fish, then i dont know what to tell ya.... fishing has always supposed to be fun for me and i never mind helping someone out.

and btw, "any luck" would be the first thing that came out of my mouth too

"any luck' is basically the universal hello between fisherman. I seriously doubt this guy was looking for any info from you at all. D*@k move if you ask me.

sooo from the opening line of "any luck" , how the #$%# did you deduce that he is a "rererere like him & not so swift fisherman" that "aint sharp enouph to use it " ??? it could have been any one of us, who are probably pretty good fisherman, that would have opened a conversation like that? and if the spots soooooooo secret, why is he there??? ok back to studying

Ageed.

1. There are no "secret" spots. Why would you think you are the first human to fish from that spot?

2. As soon as you think you know what you are doing you have taken all the spirit out of the game. I've put back more 40s in a night than most of you will catch in a lifetime. Because I'm good? No way! I was in the right place, at the right time and God smiled upon me.

40 years in the surf and 3 in the boat and everytime I fish I find out that I don't know *^&%#%

No boat, back in the suds.

Not too wise to call the guy out as a tool for asking a question we all ask on a forum where people come to learn more about the sport they love by asking and answering questions. You can either read all the posts and say, "I'm right and everyone else is wrong," or think about what people took the time to write.

Life's too short for being a miserable SOB, you know?
