Bye-Bye Family Hour on TV

The Supreme Court is considering whether government regulators may still police the airwaves for curse words and other coarse content at a time when so many Americans have unregulated cable television, and the Internet is awash in easily accessible adult material.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

'unregulated cable television'?

other than pay per view, hbo/showtime/cinemax/the few other movie channels most shows/movies are cleansed and sanitized.

Bingo!

Sorry parents, but you're going to have to play a role in policing what your kids watch. It's already required that broadcasters provide a TV-Rating to all programming. I'm all for less government in our lives and a little more personal responsibility.

Most of the inapproriate stuff is on later in the evening and you can lock channels on cable so kids can't watch them. My kid flips between Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Animal Planet so I don't worry too much. I also limit the amount he's allowed to watch. I remember one time last year he asked me if he could watch Batman while I was in another room watching sports. I said sure, thinking it was the cartoon. About 5 minutes later he came running in and said he was scared. Sure enough, I went into the other room and he had The Dark Night on and it was one of the really violent parts.

Conservatism is not about leaving people behind. Conservatism is about empowering people to catch up, to give them tools at their disposal that make it possible for them to access all the hope, all the promise, all the opportunity that America offers. - Marco Rubio

What's the difference? It's all dreck anyway. Maybe a few F-bombs will make us turn the thing off and read a book.

He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.
