So digging through some old plugs…

Found this in a bucket in the basement.
Now it comes back to me losing a nice fish in the ditch a few years ago.

I love darters. Just hate making them. The lip is labor intensive. That looks like a Super Strike. No?

No boat, back in the suds.

Yup, but they're a lot easier to produce out of plastic in a mold, the way that (yes it is) Super Strike was made.

Never caught a thing on a darter even in places where I’ve caught many bass. But a lot of people swear by them . Oh well

I once had a small white two ounce Beachmaster darter. Very rare. Amazing plug. One time, a member of this site who I won’t name (Nebe) asked to borrow it so he could try and replicate its awesomeness. I never saw it again. My therapist said it was “ho’d” but to this day 18 years later I’m unsure of what that means.

I once found a blue and silver SS Darter at Deep Hole. That thing produced for a couple of years till I lost it.

No boat, back in the suds.

Not exactly the same, but had my best night ever on Northbar bottle darters in the ditch. I hope to have another night like that someday.

I bought a lot of SS darters (also bottle plugs and that great medium sized Polaris style popper) on Long Island before moving to the Cape, and I don't think I ever paid more than $9.99 for one.

Fast forward 11 years when I was trying to clear everything out before moving abroad, and I was shocked at what some of them sold for on eBay.

I'm not sure people can consider themselves serious SB fisherman w/o fishing darters.

Yup, grew up up down there and spent lots of time on the beaches and breachways. Still go down, but not until mid-november. Long drive, not enough time.

You should give them a try. They're very effective especially from shore.I don't fish from a boat so I don't know how effective they would be with shorter casts. Anytime there's moving water it is one of my go to plug lately. If you wanna p m me your address I'll send you one.

Paul, I'm good. I make plugs and have made darters. I just much prefer metal lip Dannys and Needles.

I know you realize we were just busting balls.

No you absolutely take advantage of his offer. His darters out catch any other darter. I have been trying to get my hands on some of his for years after standing next to my fishing partner slaying fish with them and nothing with super strikes. Maybe a bit of the magician aspect but they outwork.
Black and dark green. Short model

No offense at all taken. If Beamie or anyone else wants to try a Superstike Darter send me a PM, I'll be happy to send 1. I won't be able to us all I have in my lifetime.

Haha. I pretty much fish darters 70% of the time. If you fish them
A lot you will really appreciate a good wooden darter. Plastic SS darters are Like night and day compared to a good wooden darter I know many quality fish have been caught on SS over the years no denying that but I attribute that to the mass amounts of them that are used by so Many fishermen and the scarcity of good modern day wood darters. No one wants to throw a real Musso
Or Pichney darter because of their collectabity. There are a few builders making some good one. Hunt them down. It’s worth it. My 2 cents. P.

Why can’t all these Paul’s agree. I not going to say if you don’t use darters your a bum but I wouldn’t be caught dead without one or more.
