Question?

How is it these folks who are currently holding offices in the senate, or as Governor or whatever can run for President while still currently holding a paying position for which they are not really doing their job for which they are being paid for????? They should have to relinquish their position in my opinion if they want to run!!!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Larry

you'd think that.... and ought to just be..

or else suddenly the IRS will be knocking at your door.

everything is rigged... example ->
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
i was just reading about a gal who wanted to
make her own bio fuel for her farm
and the amount of paperwork she'd have to
maintain to comply with all the governmental regulations
made it totally not worth it....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
all three candidates throw us a BONE every once in awhile
to make it look like they are still doing their JOB that we are
paying them to do via our taxes....but in reality it's just another
sound bite to further their campaign .

My take on it is that if they're running for president, at least we know what they're up to. I worry more about all of the members of Congress, etc... that we have no idea about what they're doing.

yeah good point Prof. M, this is why they are all rich dudes, because they have too much money and get board, so they figure they run for office to make laws that make them more money or at least another way to pad their egos

Because even when not running for another position they do do thier job. Thats why the find no quandry in what they are doing when they do run for office and completely abandon thier job. Which would get te rest of us fired.

There was a line from the Richard Pryor movie "Brewsters' Millions".
When he decided to run for mayor as "None of the Above", one of his quotes regarding the other candidates was "Why would a person Spend millions on a campaign for a position that only pays $100,000.00 a year if they weren't planning on stealing it back with interest." That falls under the ol' "Art imitates life" idiom.

We've got politicians that were doing a piss-poor job when they were in office and now they want to run for a better position, while still getting paid for NOT doing what their old position called for.
That should be called the "Double-Dipping rule".
If you are a senator and you run for another office, you should AUTOMATICALLY lose your senate seat, since you'll be campaigning and UNABLE to fulfill your senate obligations.
The current political campaign process is screwed. You've got people running $100.00 per plate campaign dinners and planning on keeping anything they earn and don't spend during their campaign.
That would be like the head of Goodwill keeping any contributions left at the end of the year. It's ridiculous.
