Timber - What did the dealer say about your 'Yota?

Bringing mine in today and already know that the frame is rotted to hell. Just trying to prepare for the 45 minute sales pitch.

Although I do need a new truck, it's a pain in the arse having to go switch vehicles with the wife when I have to pick up the kids.

150% of NADA retail is so good for a return, if your even considering selling yours for new this has to be considered a great opportunity. I'm taking mine in to see if I can cash in on this deal.

150% of NADA or (KBB) Retail is actually far better than 150% of the book dealers use for appraising a car: Galves . (IF they are giving you a set number for your vehicle that you can apply towards the negotiated price of a new vehicle. If it is against list then they are not doing you many favors). It is possible that the numbers you would see would be close to or even over twice the wholesale "Actual Cash Value" you would receive on a trade in. So if you are thinking about it, this could be a good time. If you wait to long and all the sudden there is a glut of frame repaired older Tacomas out there that KBB value that they base those numbers on will in fact fall and your 1.5 multiplier would be based on a smaller number - thus less overall savings...

BTW - I'd do the FJ it had more tow rating...

Although I do need a new truck, it's a pain in the arse having to go switch vehicles with the wife when I have to pick up the kids.

they test your frame (hammer)

Take the info etc. I let them know I prefer the repair option, I dont want to jump into a new 20-30 truck hell nah! My taco is 4cyl I can take that thing to 250k no problem.

Service manager called yesterday and offered me 1.5 x's kbb value at excellent condition for the truck if I wanted to sell it to them + 1k if I buy a another taco or tundra. I let them know I was more interested in the repair option. They've offered me a temp. vehicle while everything is sorted out. Service guy said if theres anything wrong with the vehicle they dont want me driving around in it, I'm calling them after work tonight.

I'm stressing to them I want the repairs made etc. The company handling this for toyota is named isg, Once they contact me I guess I'll get the info on the repair option. And how that will go. they arent being pushy/ sales at all I told them I wanted the repair option and we're going down that road. They did mention that if I wanted to jump into a new/used truck they'd be VERY happy to help me out

so far 1.5x's kbb +1k and any other current offers or incentives for a new/used taco or tundra

or

Getting the repairs done for the bubble.

I'm shooting for the bubble.

Once I hear the repair options etc.. I'll see which is more practical. If going with something new/used I'd want to even swap as much as possible. I want to keep my truck and have it repaired, but at the same time if i can swap into something used with less mileage at an even or as close to even as possible swap and its a bigger truck I may go with that. A friends a service manager at a dif. yota shop going to make a call and see what hes got on his lot just in case

Domination takes full concentration..

I hear you on not wanting a car payment. I've got zero bills besides a mortgage and would like to keep it that way, unfortunatly with two kids, the current 'Yota is useless if I have to do anything with them.

I've checked some Toyota dealer sites and BOCH has by far the best prices on used rides. If I end up with a 2006 - 2007 4x4 Access Cab for $15 K or so, with the buy back I'd be happy.

I bought the current 'Yota for $10K 9 years ago and it's still going strong ( rotting to hell ) so I really can't complain. I got my money's worth.

I show up at 3:55pm for a 4:00pm appt.

Drive the truck in and they have no idea why I am there. I called yesterday to have my frame checked. Check for what? For rust. Oh OK. Technician walks over and looks, Yeah it's rusted. OK, we will have to have corporate come down and take a look at it. Why? Because thats what we have to do. Well what happens now? Corporate has to come down and look at it. Look at what the rust? Yes. Well when do they "come down" Oh, once a month. OK when are they coming. We don't know.

Now I'm getting aggrivated. Look, I called you guys yesterday to make an appt. and to talk to someone about this. I called so I wouldnt have to come here and the come back again like a ping pong ball and waste my time. We dont want to waste your time either, thats why your here.

I got in the truck and drove away. Don't have anything done at the Toyota dealer on Aquidneck Island. MORONS!
