We tend to think very traditionally, believing that laws requiring a transition of power after a president loses an election mean that it’ll just automatically happen. But laws are limited, imperfect, and ignored by despots and their collaborators.

Richard Hopkins’s claim that a postmaster in Erie, Pa., instructed postal workers to backdate ballots mailed after Election Day was cited by Sen. Lindsey O.
