DZ Korker K1000 mod's

I'm trying to fix up my korkers for the fall. The straps that the laces pass through are all dry rotted and look like they could fail at anytime now. I did some searches and read that Dennis modifies the straps on his by using garden hose and stainless screws instead of the push in replacement spikes. Just wondering how he makes the straps, anyone have a picture?

I can't speak to DZ's mods, but I swapped out the stock laces on mine with parachute cord from the Army-Navy store ($3) and haven't had an issue in three years.

Good luck!
