Hey, as long as the old bugger is happy, that's all that counts...

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

YA gotta admit .. I give the fish very good odds of winning the battle //
between / line/nicks/ knots// reels

Dave REMEMBER the nite you , me , & TT were into large large & you were going Bull %$%$%$%$ / cuz my line was 18 years old & after every fish you wanted to change my leader / cuz it was getting worse >>>>>>>>> end result ..never did / never broke off & I went out the very next night with the same setup & duplicated the previous night ;;

Now smashing rods & reels / on rocks, boats, truck tires . etc >that,s a completely different challange ;;

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!
